HI YA'LLLL!!
Since i'm sick and bound to my couch currently ~ I thought it would be a good time to answer some of your Q & A's about fashion, life & style all at once!
1. What is your favorite part about being a fashion blogger?
- I would have to say my favorite part about having a blog is ...well, having a blog! I can write, express, display and post absolutely anything I want! I like to say I am more of a "fashion & lifestyle" blogger because I really enjoy writing exactly the way I talk in real life; something that has kind of become my trademark. I dont have perfect grammer, sometimes my English is more like Fringlish (thanks to my parents) & my punctuation is most certainly used the way I think it should be!
This day & age, fashion bloggers have taken over a part of the fashion world which is super cool. We are real people, with real feelings and lives that we are open to sharing with the world. Sometimes I almost forget that people actually look at the photo's I post & read what I have to say, haha ...I love receiving emails from followers because it almost reminds me that I somehow impact peoples every day lives in some way, shape or form!
2. Where were you when you started your blog?
- I started my blog in 2012 after having started MAYA LUNE as a store and brand. I was living in Newport, RI with my husband (then boyfriend) at the time & after having had multiple Tumblr's & becoming slightly obsessed with Instagram - I thought it'd be time I open up a bit more and let down a wall...aka, start a personal blog! It has evolved and will forever be an evolving blog of personal style, my life in all forms & daily inspiration.
3. You are French & Norwegian, how has being European effected your style?
- Having grown up in the U.S. with 2 European parents, I always thought everything about my life was completely normal. I realized as I became an adult that the funny quirkiness of my childhood & adventures upon adventures with my family, all came from who my parents were as people , not where they were from.
I really do feel like I have a different type of appreciation for Europe and style that isn't from the U.S. because I grew up traveling a lot and always loved French & Norwegian traditions that my parents brought in to our lives.
I remember going on trips to France & Norway and coming back with some new wardrobe pieces, wearing them proudly, & having girls poke fun at what I thought was the coolest outfit ever!
....little did they know, the following year after I had worn and loved these fashion statements, they came to the U.S. & everyone was wearing them all over the place! (ahemm, ahemmm) :-)
3. Out of all the places you have lived and traveled, where do you see yourself settling down?
- My husband & I talk about this literally daily...haha. We are both pretty well traveled and are very attached to certain places outside the U.S. ! Since we are both from New England, it is hard to picture our lives outside of what we know and love so much about living exactly where we do. Both Chris & I are absolutely in love with France & Paris! Right when we started dating we ended up on a family trip there for 10 days .. & never wanted to leave.
Parts of us want to live in England or Paris...other parts of us want to live in the Carolinas here in the U.S. for the warmth (but not toooo warm!) . My feeling is, we'll end up exactly where our lives take us. Hopefully not in just one place! Somewhere Euro, somewhere close to home & somewhere warm for Winter. :-) The best of all worlds, right?
4. What are your "go to" wardrobe must haves?
- Since I can remember, my "must haves" have pretty much stayed the same, just a few different shapes and styles have been added! Every season is so different. Here in New England, we have the most intensity of all seasons so you have to be prepared for all sorts of temperatures. This Winter my must haves would definitely have to be black boots, especially my ALL SAINTS leather buckle army boots...they have definitely gotten a lot of love this season & I got them for Christmas from my hubby! Another piece is black skinny jeans, but not just the plain ones . Now there are textured, patterned, & spectacular black skinnies that every gal should snatch up and add to their wardrobe! H&M has some really great and affordable ones this season. Another must have addition would have to be some sort of fur! I love fur, i'll admit it like most bloggers dont... I am a vegetarian, that is super against hunting, who loves fur. Not new fur...fur that I have inherited from my Mom or vintage stores. Faux fur will do too! (i'm a vegetarian for health reasons, not for choice & hunting is just mean.) Throw in anything snakeskin (bags or a pair of booties) & you have your Winter staple items !
5. What does your closet look like?
- My current closet is very spread out ...if you get what I mean, haha. I have my main closet that is busting at the seams (that I don't share) & then I have 2 clothing racks in our office with dresses etc on them, another coat rack in the kitchen by our front door & about 3 closets worth of clothes at my parents house! Its absurd...but oh so necessary. We currently live in a cottage ...aka not very large, or large enough for all my clothes to be in one place. We're saving for a house as we speak, so once we get our first house...step #1 is blowing out a bedroom to make room for a massive walk-in closet. :-)
P.S- Chris has an impressive amount of clothes for a guy!...he might need his own walk-in closet too! haha . love you boo.
6. How tall are you?
- I am 5'8" ! I don't wear heels that often but when I do...I am super duper tall.
7. What kind of dog is Cashew?
- Cashew is a CAVA-POO ! Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix. The best doggy ever! (he is also asleep on my lap right now...he loves being involved)
8. Where do you currently live?
- Chris & I have moved around quite a bit lately. Newport, RI ---> C.T. ----> Boston ---> C.T. ! Currently we are between CT & Boston...that would be the best way to describe our whereabouts.
9. What are your 2013 Summer must haves?
- Jean shorts, white jacket, red sandals, nude heels, white peasant blouse, colorful skinnies,..ta-daaa!
10. What beauty products do you swear by?
- I tend to be one of those "trial & error" buyer when it comes to beauty products. It has taken my 25 years to realize that once you love a product; stick to it. I stick to a few products but still love buying & trying out new ones! Check out my "must haves" ! Also - anything from Sephora...I love me some Sephora!!!
