Good morning rainy Monday!.. :-/ This weekend was a longggg one that flew on by. The end of last week was great, I made Chris a romantic mussels dinner, began packing a bit, headed home to Mystic on Friday for the weekend and then started (and almost finished!) our whole painting of the cottage project! (where we will be living in Mystic all summer) Very exciting! Not too psyched on moving, but really happy to have such a lovely little house to live in right in town :-) <3
Our weekend went a bit like this:
1. OOTD: Minnetonka moccasins that have lasted me a few years! I have a few pairs but these are my go-to brown ones for sure.
2/3. MAYA LUNE crown of flowers and butterflies! I got this made for a photo shoot last year and ended up keeping it and loving it! It's so Summery and cute, & reminds me of something I would wear to my own wedding, to the beach or just any sunny day like this day i wore it! :-)
4. This is my all time favorite dress at the moment. It is literally a sweatshirt dress from UO I got in Chicago when visiting my lovely friend Alyssa! I instantly fell in love and would literally wear it every day if i could! It is so soft, has a defined waist so it doesn't look like a tent, and has a large slit up the left leg to give it a little va-va-voom! Now i just need it in every color...
5. For Easter Chris and i each got 2 chocolate bunnies from each or our parents, (nommm!) We aren't huge "sit around and eat chocolate" people, so our bunnies became the best use of chocolate when i made us chco-dipped-strawberries dessert for my romantic mussels dinner!
6. My spicy mussels! Similar recipe HERE: If you like a little spice, and love mussels then you HAVE to try and make your own spicy mussels at home!
7. The outcome of the melted chocolate Godiva Easter bunnies!= yummy choco-dipped strawberries! + champagne of course :-) <3
8. With my spicy mussels (or any mussels we make at home) Chris and I always make "goat cheese sliders" to go along with the mussels, used to dip in the sauce! (uhh-may-zing!) We cut up french bread into little slices, put goat cheese, olive oil, rosemary, salt & pepper on the bread and broil (or essentially toast) them in the oven for just 2 minutes until the cheese has melted a bit, and then they are ready to be served with the mussels! *drinking white wine with dinner is a must/plus as well!
9. EMULSION is opening a Mystic, CT shop (Chris' and my hometown) beginning May 1st! Last week we went to check out the new shop location and make some wall color decisions. Over the weekend we went to Home Depot quite a few times between shop stuff and cottage decor-painting stuff. Meep!!
This is Dave of Emulsion (Chris' business parter) and Cashew blowing in the wind, as per usual. haha
10. Our little cottage housey! We painted all of the rooms and cabinets on Saturday and Sunday. We are exhausted, dirty, paint stained beyond belief, and very psyched at how beautiful our hard work came out! (we also had an epic team of our Mama's helping us out a ton!) It was a very long weekend but we spent a lot of time with our families and got a ton of work done!
Now it's Monday and we are heading back to Mystic on Wednesday to complete our painting job in the cottage as well as start the painting and building of the new Mystic shop!
BRING IT!
11. 3 out of the 4 colors we painted in the cottage this weekend! Light robins egg blue in the living room and bedroom, light mint green in the kitchen, soft sapphire blue cabinets (see above!) and mineral red floors for the upstairs guest room wood floor. It all looks GORGEEeeee. I can't wait to put our furniture in there and transform it completely! YAY!
12. On Saturday night Chris and I went to Margaritas restaurant in Mystic after a longgg day of painting! We had some yummy "Mexican" food (haha) and delishh Margaritas, which were well deserved and very needed!
13. Paint bucketzzzz. Right before we started painting and making a huge mess. haha Good day, good day!
