If you're between the ages of 12-70 and physically can make the decision every morning on what to wear and how dress yourself - then consider yourself lucky!
We live in a time where "this day and age" we are allowed to get away with wearing just about anything. Some people and fashion "experts" may disagree - but I will happily agree to disagree, because think about it...

Every year since I was born, or every decade at least, had a "thing" (especially before I was born!) There was a pretty specific way of dressing, or doing your hair, a "thing" that was super generational and specific to it's time. We absolutely do not have a "thing!" We are free for all wardrobe stylists to ourselves every single day - shoved out into the world able to make our own decisions without anything or anyone telling us what to do. Anything and everything is somewhat acceptable to dress yourself in...or is it?
If Justin Bieber can get away with wearing those saggy crotch pants, and Nicki Minaj can wear jump suits that barely contain her ass, and Miley Cyrus can show up at every show & red carpet in a leotard and fake body parts and all of the above are accepted?! - then yeah, I would say we live in a time where you can pretty much wear anything you want, and no one will question you.
Is that a good or bad thing you say? It's kind of the feeling of when you went to private school and wear a uniform every day and then all of a sudden go to public school and have to actually dress yourself (with the help of your Mom, i'm sure) and you're welcomed into the world where anything goes?! How does one begin to make those decisions?
A friend of mine & I were having this very exact conversation recently - & it hit me. If you are able to dress yourself (with or without a little help from a friend with good taste) you should consider yourself lucky! Why you say? Because like I said, we live in a time where you can be exactly who YOU want to be and dress yourself for what YOU feel like looking like that day. We are the children of not being squeezed in to a box of what the a certain generation might want us to dress or look like. It's a lot of responsibility - but that's why there's people like me who eat, breathe and sleep this stuff - I couldn't stop caring even if I tried! (Everyone has sweat pant days - but you get what i'm saying.)
Embrace the freedom of the individuality that this generation gives us all! Find what makes YOU feel good & look good and it can be perfectly catered to YOU!
Now I would say that makes us all pretty lucky.
