Sometimes, Practical Makes Perfect

(these run pretty big! - i got a size small!)

After hiking in Converse sneakers, golfing in TOMS slip-on shoes & ripped jeans, & freezing in an un-lined rain coat most of the year - I knew it was time to invest in some "practical" outdoors'y gear to make my life a little easier.. and to stop looking like one of those people who just haven't quite figured it out yet...
After lots of research, I have finally found a few pairs of hiking shoes that aren't clunky and horrific looking that you wouldn't want to be seen dead wearing, YAY ME!
I have also finally invested in a proper rain coat that has fleece in it so I don't have to wear 3 sweaters underneath in the cooler months. I have 100 coats (literally) but somehow have never owned a coat that is waterproof that also keeps you semi-warm! All my rain gear are just shells that you have to wear fleeces underneath or a trench that just is never warm enough.
Hopefully this not so fashionable but very practical for New England weather/waterproof classic yellow raincoat will do the job!

My husband, our dog Cashew and I love spending as much time outdoors as we possibly can. In the past few years I have grown to love being outdoors and being as active as possible more than ever!
With all the beautiful mountains in New England and the fact that we have a family house in Ludlow, VT & an awesome campsite in Ledyard, CT - we have been hiking and camping every chance we can get! I never grew up with either since I lived right outside New York City most of my life, so I guess i've been making up for it the past 10 years since moving to the coast & closer to nature.

...did I mention we just got a new canoe?! We are VERY exited to get this bad boy into the water once the weather warms up, perhaps this weekend?!
